I’m Melanie, a maternity, newborn, and family photographer based in Cornwall, and a mother who knows how quickly these seasons pass.

I’ve lived the blur of newborn nights, chasing toddlers while running on caffeine and not nearly enough sleep, and the beautiful chaos of watching children grow into themselves. Family is my everything, and I know the days you’ll ache for are the ones you’re living right now.

When I photograph your family, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m seeking connection: your warmth, your realness, your love. I’ll be there to gently guide, but mostly I’ll let you be yourselves. I want you to feel seen for who you are, the way you show up, the way you love, the time you make to be present with your children.

Photographs can’t stop time, but they can help you remember how it felt.

YOUR QUESTIONS—ANSWERED

This is something I’m asked a lot! I love to help my families prepare for their session. You’ll receive a style guide once you are booked in which covers what to wear, bring and what to expect. I’m drawn to soft, nostalgic tones, muted colours and texture. But ultimately you want to feel comfortable and like yourself.

Yes, everyone is welcome here, this is a safe space for all identities, bodies, cultures, faiths, neurodiversity and family structures. No matter how you identify and regardless of how you define yourself or your family relationship, I’d love to be a part of your story. If I can do anything to make your experience easier and more comfortable I want you to know that you can reach out to me.

Honestly, same, along with 99% of my clients who claim to be awkward. Don’t worry, my approach is relaxed and easygoing, and I’ll be there to give you something to laugh about, tell you where to put your hands (because nobody knows what to do with their hands). All you need to do is be present and connect with yourself and your loved ones. You’ll hardly notice the moments being captured, it’s easier than you think, I promise!

Sessions will take 2 to 4 weeks to deliver. Once your photos are ready, I’ll send you an email link to your online viewing gallery. You will be able to download your included images and somewhere safe.. I put a lot of love and care into perfecting each image, which is why it’ll take me a little bit more time to deliver your final images. You can print your own photos, or you can print via the shop within the gallery itself. If you do choose to print yourself please use a professional printing lab.

We know there is often a chance of rain and while I wholeheartedly encourage embracing Cornish weather, a light shower can make for some magical images, but I’ll never insist on shooting if the conditions are extremely bad. I limit my outdoors sessions, avoiding back-to-back bookings, and offer flexibility to adjust dates if needed.

Every image you receive is carefully hand-edited by me. My style is inspired by cinematic colours and the soft, timeless feel of film, so your photographs feel natural and emotive. I keep editing gentle and true to life. I may remove obvious distractions in the background, things like signs, stray people, or anything that pulls attention away from the moment. When it comes to you, I only retouch temporary things that wouldn’t be there in a few weeks,  the occasional spot, scratch, redness or bruise. Nothing that changes who you are. You are created beautifully as you are. My job isn’t to change you,  it’s to help you see the beauty that’s already there.
