My style is authentic, nostalgic, and inspired by film. My approach is gentle and natural, guided but never staged. I give you space to simply be yourselves, because the most meaningful moments happen when you feel relaxed, present, and at ease.

Every session is personal. Whether you’re celebrating something big or just holding onto this fleeting season, there’s no need for a reason to document your story.

I’m Melanie, a maternity, newborn, and family photographer based in Cornwall, and a mother who knows just how fleeting these seasons are.

I’ve been there, I’ve lived the blur of newborn days, chasing toddlers, and finding my way through the beautiful chaos of family life. I know the ache of watching children grow up too fast. It’s why I do this work: because I know the little things are everything.

The weight of a sleeping baby on your chest. Tiny toddler curls. Holding small hands that wanted to go everywhere with you.

When I photograph your family, I’m not chasing perfection, I’m seeking connection: your warmth, your realness, your love. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but mostly I’ll let you just be.

Photographs can’t stop time, but they can help you remember what it felt like to live these moments.

YOUR QUESTIONS—ANSWERED

This is something I’m asked a lot! I love to help my families prepare for their session. You’ll receive a style guide once you are booked in which covers what to wear, bring and what to expect. I’m drawn to soft, nostalgic tones, muted colours and texture. But ultimately you want to feel comfortable and like yourself.

Yes, everyone is welcome here, this is a safe space for all identities, bodies, cultures, faiths, neurodiversity and family structures. No matter how you identify and regardless of how you define yourself or your family relationship, I’d love to be a part of your story. If I can do anything to make your experience easier and more comfortable I want you to know that you can reach out to me.

Honestly, same, along with 99% of my clients who claim to be awkward. Don’t worry, my approach is relaxed and easygoing, and I’ll be there to give you something to laugh about, tell you where to put your hands (because nobody knows what to do with their hands). All you need to do is be present and connect with yourself and your loved ones. You’ll hardly notice the moments being captured, it’s easier than you think, I promise!

Sessions will take 2 to 4 weeks to deliver. Once your photos are ready, I’ll send you an email link to your online viewing gallery. You will be able to download your included images and somewhere safe.. I put a lot of love and care into perfecting each image, which is why it’ll take me a little bit more time to deliver your final images. You can print your own photos, or you can print via the shop within the gallery itself. If you do choose to print yourself please use a professional printing lab.

We know there is often a chance of rain and while I wholeheartedly encourage embracing Cornish weather, a light shower can make for some magical images, but I’ll never insist on shooting if the conditions are extremely bad. I limit my outdoors sessions, avoiding back-to-back bookings, and offer flexibility to adjust dates if needed.

Every image you receive is carefully hand-edited by me. My style is inspired by cinematic colours and the soft, timeless feel of film, so your photographs feel natural and emotive. I keep editing gentle and true to life. I may remove obvious distractions in the background, things like signs, stray people, or anything that pulls attention away from the moment. When it comes to you, I only retouch temporary things that wouldn’t be there in a few weeks, the occasional spot, scratch, redness or bruise. Nothing that changes who you are. You are created beautifully as you are. My job isn’t to change you, it’s to help you see the beauty that’s already there.
