Hello Spring!
Can you feel it in the air? Spring has arrived – flowers are blooming, birds are singing and everyone is walking around with a smile on their face, I know I definitely am!
One of my favourite things about spring and the warmer weather is that families are getting out and about on adventures, and book me to come along and document it all! I get to spend my days with lovely people, exploring Cornwall and Devon and generally having a grand old time! I can’t think of a better way to spend a few hours, especially when the sun is shining.
One perk of being a portrait photographer Devon based, is that I’m allowed a small peek into your family life. Those couple of hours in your company and, in a lot of cases, in your home, are so special. I’m welcomed in and I become part of the chaos, fun, emotion and intimacy of your day to day. To be given that unique viewpoint and the opportunity to capture your memories is something that I never take it for granted.

I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed the Pillar family many times over the years. I first met them when Tigerlily was a newborn and since then I’ve joined them for Raffy’s first shoot and other family sessions at least once a year. I love watching the children grow up and catching up with all the news. We spend so much of our time together laughing and chatting away.
We met up at The Surfing Cow, a friend of a friend’s farm and home to Surfing Cow Devon ice cream – and 450 Jersey cows! Sadly the ice cream shack was closed due to lockdown restrictions but that gives me an excellent excuse to return! I’ve heard great things and I know my children will adore it.
We made our way to the fields and stopped in our tracks, just wow! What a picturesque location! We couldn’t have asked for more, rolling green meadows, a view of the sea and daisies everywhere. Raffy and Tigerlily were in their element, their eyes wide with excitement as they picked a few flowers and began to explore.
Your family photography experience
As with all my family shoots, we had a very laid back few hours full of smiles. The children were so happy as they pottered around whilst Jasmine and Phil watched on. I tailor each and every family session to you. As a family you are utterly unique, you have your own story to tell. We get to know each other before the shoot so by the time we meet it’s like we’re old friends. That means that you can completely relax and enjoy yourselves, knowing that I’ll be capturing all the laughter, all the cuddles and all of the love you feel for each other. Plus you get to have forever keepsakes like this…
