Lifestyle Family Photography | Sand Dunes and Salty Air
I love the connections that come from this work. The ones that start online, often through Instagram, and slowly grow into something real. Jess was one of those. A shared love of slow living, relaxed moments, and letting life unfold gently. So when she booked me for a lifestyle family photography session, it felt like a natural fit.
Slow and relaxed was exactly the feeling Jess wanted for her family photographs. Nothing posed. Nothing forced. Just her children as they are right now, their personalities, their energy, their joy, captured honestly and in the moment.
This felt especially important given the time we were in. Like so many families, their summer during lockdown looked very different to what they’d imagined. And yet, those seasons deserve to be remembered, too. Perhaps especially those ones.
What do you want to remember?
From the moment we met, the love within this family was palpable. The children giggled endlessly, running and rolling on the sand dunes. It was beautiful to be in the background, letting moments unfold and capturing them as they were.
We also documented Jess breastfeeding. These tender, fleeting moments mattered deeply to her. They’re often the first to fade from memory, yet they hold so much feeling.
When I asked Jess what she wanted to remember about this season, she said:
“How happy we are, despite the exhaustion and chaos. Especially how happy we are this year because we’ve been lucky to have so much extra time together through lockdown. It feels like we’re all thriving at the moment and I want to bottle it!”
Jess
Such a beautiful perspective. And such a reminder that even in uncertain times, there can be so much light.
Your stay in Cornwall
Including a lifestyle family photography session during a holiday in Cornwall is one of the loveliest ways to capture your family at their most relaxed. Away from routine. Away from pressure. Just time together.
This family were staying at the wonderful Bedruthan Hotel and Spa, perfectly set up for family stays along the Cornish clifftops. We met at Holywell Bay, one of my favourite places to photograph families. There’s always something to explore there. The dunes, the open space, the ever-changing light.
We ended the session as the sun dipped low, the sky softening into pinks and warm tones. Walking away in that gentle evening glow felt like the perfect close. I’m always in awe of how the light shifts here, making every session feel magical in its own way.
These are the kinds of photographs that become more valuable over time. Images of connection, of togetherness, of a season exactly as it was, salty air, sandy toes, and all.
If you’re dreaming of a lifestyle family photography session in Cornwall that feels natural, unhurried, and true to you, I’d love to hear from you.
