Family Lifestyle Photography | Up with the Birds
Sunrise Session
Ohh, how this April sunrise family session fed my soul, it was so so wonderful to be back photographing families again.
As a family photographer, I found lockdown especially tough, so returning to Holywell Bay, my favourite beach, felt like coming home. The golden sand, the open space, the way the sun spills over the dunes, it’s magic at anytime of the day, but sunrise was extra special.
Family Lifestyle Photography on Holiday
The lovely Cook family were travelling through Cornwall and Devon in their motorhome, soaking up slow days and salty air. I joined them early, up with the birds, while the beach was still quiet and untouched.
We wandered, played, dipped our toes in the sea, and I followed as they explored. That’s the magic of being on holiday, no plans, no rush. These early sessions always feel so calm. There’s something really special about photographing families while the rest of the world is still asleep.
I wondered if it might feel strange to be back with people again, remembering how to hold face-to-face conversations. But it didn’t. It felt right. I was reminded just how much I love what I do, and how grateful I am to tell these stories for you.
An Excuse to Slow Down and Connect
Life moves fast, doesn’t it? Days blur into one another, and sometimes we can go from morning to night without really connecting. We definitely feel that in our own home.
A family session becomes a gentle pause. An excuse to slow down, to be together without distractions, to really notice one another. No phones. No to-do lists. Just time. These shared experiences create memories that linger. Not just photographs, but feelings. The kind you look back on and remember how it felt to be together in that season of life. Images that feel honest, relaxed, and deeply you.
If you’re considering a family lifestyle session, I’d love to hear from you. We’ll talk through everything together, dates, locations, timing, and find something that feels natural and true to your family
