A rugged and romantic maternity PHOTOSHOOT in Cornwall
There’s something about the in-between seasons of life that I’m always drawn to. Not quite what was. Not quite what’s coming next. It’s a special place to be. This maternity session with Sara and Reece took place on a drizzly August evening at Holywell Bay, one of my favourite parts of Cornwall. Wild, open, and rugged, but also so soft and dreamy.
When Sara first got in touch, she shared something I hear all the time: We are very camera shy, and feel awkward in front of one… but we really want to remember this time. They weren’t looking for anything overly styled or posed. Just something natural, serene and beachy. Photos that would feel like them, and something they’d actually want to display at home.
Expecting their first baby, this wasn’t about perfection. It was about presence. Savouring these in-between moments together. Sara and Reece are the kind of couple who love slow days exploring new places, watching documentaries, and building a life together in a quiet, intentional way. That energy was carried so perfectly into their session. We began on the coastal path, the rugged cliffs and the beautiful blue of the sea below, so expansive yet intimate energy. space to breathe, to settle, to just be.
I’m drawn to documenting moments that feel laid-back, honest and cinematic. Nothing overly directed. Nothing performative. We settled on a monochromatic palette, keeping styling simple and understated, with a little edge. I loved Reece’s jacket slung over Sara’s shoulders, so effortlessly cool, but never at the expense of feeling.
Sara and Reece were completely themselves, relaxed and grounded. just existing, exactly as they are. Savouring these sweet moments together, before life changes.
If you’re dreaming of a maternity session that feels relaxed, natural, and deeply personal, I’d love to connect.
