There’s something so special about photographing returning families. Each session feels more relaxed, more effortless, and even more joyful. The children get to know me, and before long, it’s less like a photo session and more like catching up with old friends on the beach.

I love witnessing their story unfold, seeing little ones grow taller, their personalities shine even brighter, and relationships evolve. Over time, I see them become more comfortable in front of the camera, embracing the moment rather than worrying about getting everything just right. That ease and authenticity are pure magic and a wonderful thing to witness.

I always photograph this beautiful family at Watergate Bay, one of their most sentimental spots in Cornwall, and a place they return to at each stage of their family journey, a beautiful backdrop to their memories. I first captured them as a family of four—now, several years later, they’re a family of six! It’s easy to see why they love it so much. The wide-open space, the endless horizon, the golden light hitting the sand. Children can run free, splash in the sea, and just be themselves—which always leads to the most genuine, joy-filled photos.

For me, photographing families as they grow is the ultimate dream. It’s more than just taking pictures; it’s about getting to know people and telling their stories. The laughter, the wild hair from the sea breeze, the sandy toes, and the way your child still reaches for your hand – it all matters.
