I’m Melanie, a family and newborn photographer based in Cornwall, specialising in relaxed, natural storytelling photography. By nature, I’m an introvert, a grounded Capricorn and a lover of a cosy, slow life. For me, Sunday mornings with a record playing and a hot cup of coffee are my happy place.
I’m not a small-talk kind of person; instead, I’m all about real conversations. Because of this, I love connecting deeply with my clients. I genuinely cherish the relationships we build, and I notice the subtle ways you show your love. It’s my job is to help you feel at ease in front of the camera and to make the whole experience feel easy, fun, and completely effortless. Ultimately, I’m here to capture your story, the real, beautiful moments that deserve to be remembered.
At the heart of my work is storytelling. I focus on capturing the essence of you, both the big moments and the tiniest details. I gently guide when needed; however, I also create space for natural, honest moments to unfold. The wind in your hair, your child’s little hand holding onto yours, and the way your eyes light up when you look at the people you love, these small things truly matter. Above all, I want to capture the love, the chaos, and the magic of your story. So when you look back, you won’t just see it… you’ll feel it.
MY REASON WHY
With the soft click of my camera, I find a sanctuary where I can freeze moments of love that I’ve always craved but never quite had.
Behind the lens, I witness the tender exchanges, the laughter that fills the air, and the gentle gazes that speak of unbreakable bonds. Yet, beneath the surface of these captured moments, there’s a whisper of longing, a reminder of the family warmth I’ve yearned for but never fully known.
It’s been a journey through years of feeling like an outsider, grappling with the notion of belonging and happiness. It was when my children entered the world that I discovered my innate need to document our days together; It was then that I reached for the camera. In the whirlwind of parenthood, a whole new person was unfolding before me at a tremendous velocity, and there was no pause button.
As a mother, I found myself also becoming a photographer and storyteller, crafting beautiful tales of maternal love and connection in every frame. I’ve realised that life isn’t just about the bright glow of joy. They say photography is painting with light, and light cannot exist without the dark, and in the darkness, there is always magic.
Through it all, I’ve unearthed a resilience within myself, a quiet strength that blooms despite the pain. So, I keep noticing the glimmers of light amidst the shadows, knowing that within them lies the essence of what it means to love and be loved, even in the darkest of nights. Love changes everything.
